Day of Reckoning
Yes. NO. Yes. No. Yes. No. Oh for God's sake. Yes. no. NO. Yes. Yes. Yes. No. No. DEFINATELY. Not. Yes. No. Maybe.
What makes 2 people who have good careers give it all up to travel the world? Getting married and wondering if that's a full stop. Or more accurately, getting married, having children and wondering if that's it for the rest of our lives.
Travelling's for gap year students and not married couples the wrong side of twenty and in cases (Steve) early 30's with a house, a comfortable lifestyle, careers, cars and cats. That was the 'no' arguement.
We have nothing to tell our kids. No experiences, no stories. We haven't found anywhere we can call home yet in England. We will regret it if we don't see some of the world. We need time together to enjoy our marriage before children. That was the 'yes' arguement.
Suddenly the yes's outweighed the no's and so we did it. We sold the house, gave away the cats (Beth's contact lenses are still discoloured from the amount of tears she shed)
, put our furniture in storage (well, Steve's Nan's garage) and put our careers on hold. Travelling D.I.N.K.Y style (duel income no kids yet) - watch out world, here we come...
